Schools were definitely closed during the flood—and in the immediate aftermath. These kids survey the wreckage of their classroom at Monte Rio School. Note how the chairs are still placed atop the table for the janitors to sweep up at the end of the day. Turns out the floors got a giant mopping instead.

To our eye, this looks a lot like a library, with the globe, the books, the spinning rack. But who are those boys?
