While vinyl sales in the music business continue on a two-years-and-counting upward trajectory, it’s common practice now for bands both obscure and world-famous to release their music on LP or, at the least, a 45-rpm single. David J, formerly of Bauhaus and Love and Rockets, releases a two-song, colored-vinyl 7-inch record this week courtesy of Santa Rosa’s own Saint Rose Records, who have pressed up wax for local bands Victims Family, Emily Jane White and, coming soon, Polar Bears. In the tradition of Journey and Judas Priest, David J has connected with the local tribute band Luv ’n’ Rockets for backing support, although this Sunday’s free in-store also finds him with a piano, violin and upright bass. Swoon to the cosmopolitan sounds of the modern-rock legend on Sunday, Nov. 7, at the Last Record Store. 1899-A Mendocino Ave., Santa Rosa. 7pm. Free. 707.525.1963.
