It’s no secret that the Beatles were trend setters, even beyond popularizing the ever famous bowl-cut; their 1968 classic “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da” marked one of the earliest rock tunes featuring a clear reggae rhythm. Flash forward more than 40 years, and roots reggae band Steel Pulse are still keeping the laid-back, soulful upstrokes of reggae alive. Formed in 1975, the band has long used music to fight the overwhelming powers of racism and prejudice. Steel Pulse bring the power back to the people Wednesday, Nov. 9, at the Phoenix Theater. 201 Washington St., Petaluma. 8pm. $26. 707.762.3565
