.Jan. 9-10: Wit & Wisdom in St. Helena

Back in the Roaring Twenties, New York City’s Algonquin Hotel was host to the legendary Algonquin Round Table, a daily gathering of writers, poets and actors who traded wisecracks and wordplay that became a national sensation. One of the most popular members of the round table was poet and satirist Dorothy Parker, who would go on to pursue screenwriting in the early days of Hollywood. This weekend, playwright John Sullivan’s play about Parker’s adventures in Tinsel Town premieres when ‘Dottie Goes to Hollywood’ comes alive with two performances on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 9–10, at the White Barn, 2727 Sulphur Springs Ave., St. Helena. Saturday, 8pm; Sunday, 3pm. $30. 707.987.8225.
