For years, travelers on Highway 29 drove through Rutherford, noticed the Rutherford Grange Hall across from Rubicon Estate and wondered, “What in the world goes on inside that place?” Just last year, an infusion of fresh faces and new ideas brought a new vitality to the historic white building previously consigned to obscurity. New “Master of the Grange” Susan Hirschy has extended the scope of the hall beyond bingo nights and community potlucks to include, among other collaborations with the arts community, this weekend’s second semifinal of the Napa Valley Battle of the Bands.
