Classically trained composer and pianist Lew Richmond formed the Melanthium Ensemble two years ago to explore a broad style of original music, influenced by everything from jazz to orchestral pop, that he calls Chamber Fusion. The ensemble also features Jay Rizzetto on trumpet, Fred Randolph on bass and Craig Fry on violin for one of the most renowned collections of veteran musicians in the Bay Area. This week, the band welcomes actor and author Peter Coyote for an afternoon concert that features more than one world premiere. Coyote will be reading his new original poetry, which he rarely shares, to the tune of the ensemble’s recent works on Sunday, Oct. 25, at Throckmorton Theatre, 142 Throckmorton Ave., Mill Valley. 2pm. $21–$36. 415.383.9600.
