“Fake country,” “weird cartoon music”—these are phrases that the members of 3 Leg Torso use to describe their music. What it is, in actuality, is a metropolitan cross of tango, klezmer and chamber music that’s landed in a number of soundtracks and on theater stages countrywide. Fans of A Hawk and a Handsaw, Yann Tiersen and Tin Hat Trio will find much to be distracted by in 3 Leg Torso’s vivaciousness, and especially so in a live setting this weekend. Switching from vibes to percussion, Gary Irvine serves as an anchor for the group’s compositions for upright bass, accordion and violin—and, yes, they need an anchor. “We’re all trying to be the third leg,” says member T. J. Arko. See for yourself on Saturday, Nov. 13, at 142 Throckmorton Theatre, 142 Throckmorton Ave., Mill Valley. 8pm. $20–$23. 415.383.9600.
