Even if summer were only a single day, I’d spend it going to the Kate Wolf Festival. Simply being there feels like a red wine buzz; flocks of well-sunned, barely clad Californians play in the Eel River, and later, some lounge on hay bales while others dance at the golden-hour folk concerts on the valley oak savannah. This year’s fest features Lucinda Williams, Richard Thompson, Justin Townes Earle, k.d. lang and many others; if I can scrape the cash together, I’ll see you there—sunburned and face painted—from June 29 to July 1 at Black Oak Ranch. 50350 Hwy. 101, Laytonville. Ticket prices vary widely; visit www.katewolfmusicfestival.com for more info. 415.256.8499.
