Around the Sun and Up the Wall

Sebastopol
Trip Around the Sun

The jam-band universe circles back to Sebastopol for Another Trip Around the Sun, a benefit concert bringing together musicians with deep ties to the Grateful Dead extended family. Guitarist Mark Karan of Bob Weir & RatDog, keyboardist Scott Guberman of Phil Lesh & Friends, drummer Anna Elva of Stu Allen & Mars Hotel and bassist/vocalist JP McLean of Melvin Seals & JGB join forces for an evening built on improvisation, interplay and the loose-limbed spirit of the scene. Opening the show is Slowstring, the new folk project from Sarah Ryan and Jimbo Scott. Proceeds support the Sebastopol Community Cultural Center and its arts, education and community programs. 6:30pm, Friday, Aug. 21, at Sebastopol Community Cultural Center, 390 Morris St. Doors open at 6pm. $25 advance.
