.Feb. 4: Rodney Crowell at Copperfield’s Books

When you see Hank Williams at the age of two, you know you’re destined for a life in country music. At least that’s the way it was with Nashville star Rodney Crowell. Most know Crowell from his great records (Diamonds & Dirt), his marriage to Roseanne Cash (1979-1992) and his tenure in Emmylou Harris’ legendary Hot Band. No one really knew about the fistfights, guns, preachers, sex, drinking, infidelity and drugs of Crowell’s youth, however, until the release of his new book Chinaberry Sidewalks. Chronicling an essentially white-trash upbringing outside of Houston, Tex., Crowell writes remarkably about his early struggles, especially with his parents, who it’s clear he still loves deeply. Meet him when he blows through town on Friday, Feb. 4, at Copperfield’s Books. 2316 Montgomery Drive, Santa Rosa. 7pm. Free. 707.578.8938.
