Best Place to Live Your Life like a Country & Western Song

THE C&W TOP 40 JUKEBOX is exactly where it should be: on the left as you enter. The two pool tables are also exactly where they should be: smack in the middle of things. And the wagon wheel adorned with liquor bottles is most correctly in place--behind the bar with the sassy British barmaid. While Petaluma's own Twin Oaks Tavern may not be the best spot to fall to pieces, it's a pretty good place to lose at pool, talk farming, look at old photos of the county kept carefully in someone's wallet, or methodically peel the label off a Bud. And best of all, even though everyone ringed around the counter seems to know everyone else, they don't mind if they don't know you. Twin Oaks Tavern, 5745 Old Redwood Hwy., Penngrove; 795-5118.
