Sonoma County will host two town halls next week to hear public input on a proposal to streamline the permit process for commercial cannabis cultivation in agricultural and zoned areas.
The proposed amendment to the county’s General Plan would also recognize cannabis as an agricultural crop consistent with state law, county officials said.
The draft ordinance, general plan amendment and related documents are available online. Public comments are requested to be sent via email to Cannabis@Sonoma-County.org.
A public hearing is scheduled March 18 before the Sonoma County Planning Commission, which will consider the proposal at a subsequent public hearing scheduled April 13.
