Tuesday Morning Meditation and Tara Practice
May 4 @ 8:15 am - 9:15 am
You are invited to join Lama Döndrup on Facebook every Tuesday for a short calm abiding meditation followed by the practice of either Green Tara or Tara Who Dispels Epidemics.
We are living in a time of great uncertainty and isolation and this can easily give rise to fear and many thoughts that disturb one’s sense of ease and well-being. Calm abiding meditation (shamatha) is a useful tool that will help you to not follow these disturbing thoughts as they arise. This in turn will allow you to stay grounded and to remain in the present moment; the only moment in which we can affect our experience.
After calming our minds, we will engage in a practice of Tara. Green Tara is the central form of the 21 forms of Tara, and the Tara Who Dispels Epidemics is one of the 21 Taras, specifically focused on pandemics. Tara is the enlightened feminine embodiment of the awakened quality of compassion and she is committed to instantly come to the aid of any being in need. We engage in Tara practice to actively call on her to pacify our fears and the fears of all beings, and to protect us and all beings from danger. In doing so, we also cultivate these compassionate qualities in ourselves which are innate to each one of us, but are often obscured.
This practice is offered on a donation basis. You may donate here: https://sukhasiddhi.org/donate/dana/
These practices are suitable for all levels of experience. One need not be Buddhist to engage in and benefit from these practices. Sukhasiddhi welcomes people of all religions, ages, racial backgrounds, sexual orientations and gender identities.
We invite you to join Lama Döndrup every Tuesday at 8:15am. To join, go to the Sukhasiddhi Facebook page at the time and you will see a Live notification.
