Dr. Peters, who announced his retirement as President and CEO of Marin Community Foundation (MCF) in 2020, will receive a Lifetime Achievement award during the event. He has spent his entire career – from his days as a county public health official to his tenure at MCF – advocating and facilitating the dedication of private and government resources for the benefit of the community and public health. Under Dr. Peters’ leadership and grant management over the past 22 years, MCF became one of the largest community foundations in the country, approving more than 33,000 grants resulting in the distribution of more than $810,500,000 to community nonprofits, schools, health centers, and faith-based organizations in Marin County.

Dr. Lisa Leavitt, Associate Director of Pediatrics at Marin Community Clinics, has devoted her career to helping Marin County children reach their full potential since 1996. She is a founding member of the Marin Organizing Committee (MOC) and serves as a Commissioner of Marin’s First 5 Children and Families Commission – an organization that advances opportunities for children to thrive in supportive and nurturing families, enter school healthy and ready to learn, and become productive members of society. Dr. Leavitt embodies the values of the Clinics and is a strong community advocate for vaccinations, mental health services, and developmental screening.

The 2021 Summer Solstice virtual event will allow guests the opportunity to mingle with fellow invitees and to raise a glass to Dr. Peters and Dr. Leavitt – the event’s on-hand mixologist will guide attendees through creating the perfect “mocktail” or cocktail for the occasion. Ingredients for the special summer elixir, along with a picnic blanket and appetizers will be home-delivered in the “Solstice box” – included with registration. Sponsorship opportunities are available – all proceeds and funds raised will benefit Marin Community Clinics, Marin County’s largest safety net health care provider – promoting health and wellness through excellent, compassionate care for all since 1972.
